Happy New Year! Um, well, I guess it’s not so new anymore but it’s been a busy one thus far. The new year kicked off with the great news of winning a pitch to Havaianas. So I spent a good amount of time working with Steve Issacs and the nice folk over at Deep-Focus on the redesign of Havaianasus.com. The project involved some heavy illustration of the intro and individual sandal page animations. The site just went LIVE last week.
I’ve also had the pleasure of working with a bunch of new clients this year including: JWT Advertising, Strawberry Frog, EXPRESS Fashion, and Naked Communications.
There’s lots more on the horizon. Aside from art and design, I play in a band called LaGrecia. We spent most of December and January in the studio recording our full length album. The record is called “On Parallels” and comes out June 24th on Suburban Home Records. I’ve just finished and posted the artwork for the CD / LP. The artwork will also be made into a limited edition silk screen prints (poster size). They will be signed, numbered, and made available through Suburban Home as well as my online store. I also have a few other art pieces in the works and hope to have them available in June as well.

Just finished up working a really fun campaign for Samsung with Vault49. Always a pleasure working with Vault and the campaign looks great! Already looking forward to working with them in the near future!
Also finished up a fun web project for HBO’s newest show Flight of the Conchords. I jumped at the chance to work on it after Deep Focus brought me in to screen the first few episodes. HBO was so happy with the illustrations that they have been liscensed for use on FOTC t-shirts, messenger bags, posters, as well as the packaging of the complete first season DVD. All available through HBO.com.
Recently, a large multi-format, multi-media outdoor campaign I worked on with Vault49 launched in North America. The project was designed for Pepsi and commissioned by BBDO New York.

Guess what? I’m still alive! The last update to Salvation was made a little over a year and a half ago. That post stated that I would be closing up shop for a few months in order to do some traveling. Well, my wife and I embarked on a 5 month adventure to see Europe. Armed with only our cameras and whatever we could carry on our backs, we returned home in late August 2006 after conquering 19 countries in 5 months. It was amazing!
Upon returning home, I put Salvation on further hold, and began working full time as the third member of the design duo known as Vault49. It was an amazing experience working with two individuals as great and talented as John and Jonathan. But in January 2007 I got the itch to return to freelance and I parted ways with Vault49 to resurrect Salvation Design.
2007 has been a great year thus far! The Sopranos web campaign I art directed/designed for Deep Focus was nominated for a Technical Emmy Award. Unfortunately, we didn’t win, but it was truly an honor to be a nominee and fly out to Las Vegas for the awards ceremony. Big thanks to Vault49 and the Artful Dodger crew for hooking me up with some nice gear to wear to the awards!
