Update - New Projects

/uploads/posts/sd_tote_blog-1321582776.gif I’ve finally got around to posting a handful of new projects. I’ve been experimenting with some new abstract illustration ideas and look forward to sharing them soon. There are a few in the works that are in the same style of the Transmutation tote, Less Life album artwork, and Dress Pattern. Feel free to drop me a line and let me know what you think.

Walton Ford - Paul Kasmin Gallery

Walton Ford’s show “I don’t like to look at him, Jack. It makes me think of that awful day on the island” is on display at Paul Kasmin Gallery in NY from 11/3 - 12/23. I had the pleasure of attending his book signing on opening night. I waited patiently in line and when I handed Walton my books, I told him not to worry about having to sign it to my full name. I broke down the pronunciation and mentioned that it’s pretty long and hard to spell. He immediately turned to me and said “No way, you’re name means THE EAGLE in Italian.” He proceeded to sign all of my books “To Sal, the eagle.” It made me smile. If you have a chance check out this show, the paintings are massive.

I also managed to buy a signed lithograph! Can’t wait to get it back from the framer.

LESS LIFE - LP Artwork

Wow I’ve really been slacking on updates this year. it’s time to change that. I hope to have a site update in the next few weeks. Until then, here’s the LP artwork I did for my good buddy Tom’s band LESS LIFE.

The LP was released in September on How Soon is Now Records. Chris from h.s.i.n was nice enough to send me a copy of every color from the pressing. I am very partial to the clear vinyl with black swirls.

Florian Bertmer “Hexenbrett”

/uploads/posts/hexen_1-1309904981.jpg I was excited to receive this piece in the mail last week! Moon Editions teamed up with Florian Bertmer to create a beautifully intricate, laser engraved Hexenbrett (German for Witches Board). Limited to an edition of 50, Brett from Moon Editions emailed to congratulate me on scoring the last one.

I have some big plans for this piece and my talented buddies over at Wishbone Woodworking will be behind the craftsmanship!

Marcel Dzama - Behind Every Curtain

/uploads/posts/marcel_d1-1301799661.jpg

If you haven’t gotten a chance to check out Marcel Dzama’s “Behind Every Curtain” in NYC at David Zwirner gallery, it closes this weekend! Get over there!

His work has definitely evolved a great deal since I’ve had the pleasure of viewing his “Even the Ghost of the Past” exhibition back in 2008. Two weeks ago I attended his book signing. Needless to say, I was stoked to my book signed.
